It is with profound shock and sadness that we mark the sudden passing of Sophie, known to the music community as the formidable Siren Sycho. She left us unexpectedly after a recent illness.
Sophie was the undeniable voice, spirit, and chaotic energy at the core of Hertfordshire’s own DEATH KOOLAID. In a beautiful contradiction, she was also the band’s anchor—somehow the only non-insane member holding the glorious madness together. Fierce, funny, and unapologetically creative, she was a force of nature who lit up every stage and room she entered.
As the vocalist and lyricist for Death Koolaid and her own project, Siren Sycho, and formerly of Dead Broads, her artistry was a gift to the scene. Making music with her was a privilege, but knowing her was an honour. The cacophony is quieter now. Our thoughts are with her family, bandmates, and all who were dazzled by her light.
